The Lakes is an impressive development of 4,000 residences that was built in the early 80s and holds the distinction of being one of the original master-planned communities in the Las Vegas Valley. An oasis in the high desert, the man-made 30-acre Lake Sahara is its focal point, and residents enjoy the exclusivity of a private shoreline and dock in their own backyard. While the lakeside might be hands off for the general public, for the community is not. With properties ranging in size from 1,500 to 12,000 square feet and featuring anything from apartments and condominiums to luxury custom homes, (and even a castle!), the development has something for every size pocketbook. This diverse community also has plenty of other enticing activities in addition to the pleasure of boating or fishing on the lake. Residents can take advantage of the amenities and sport activities taking place at the two well-maintained parks, or take leisurely strolls along the extensive network of paths winding through miles of jogging trails and walkways in The Lakes’ various neighborhoods. With a town center right on the lake that has everything from a grocery store to several small shops, restaurants, and services, it is not uncommon to take care of shopping, errands, and dining out by way of a relaxing boating excursion from the yacht club on the lake. Just southeast of Summerlin and west of the Strip, with easy access to I-215 make living within this community as convenient as it is luxurious.
